Report on Vachan Sankalp Maharashtracha

Introduction
The Vachan Sankalp Maharashtracha (Reading Resolution Maharashtra) initiative was successfully conducted at Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College as part of the state-wide campaign to promote reading habits among students, faculty, and staff. The event aimed to instill a culture of reading, enhance literacy skills, and encourage lifelong learning.
Objectives of the Initiative
- To encourage students and faculty to develop a regular reading habit.
- To create awareness about the importance of books in academic and personal development.
- To introduce participants to diverse literary works and resources available in the library.
- To promote discussions on literature, knowledge-sharing, and critical thinking.
Event Highlights
- Reading Pledge Ceremony: Students were encouraged to take a resolution on January 1st, the first day of the year, to start reading and develop regular reading habits.
- Book Exhibition: A display of selected books, including classics, contemporary literature, reference materials, and Marathi literature.
- Read-Aloud Sessions: Students were encouraged to read excerpts from notable books, poetry, and essays to inspire their peers.
- Book Review Presentations: A total of 1,525 students borrowed books throughout the fortnight, and 256 submitted book reviews by January 24, 2025. Students from various streams read and submitted reviews on different genres and themes.
- Library Awareness Drive and Visits: Teachers guided their students on library tours, during which sessions were conducted on effectively utilizing library resources, including e-books, journals, and digital databases.
Participation and Response
The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and library staff. Over 1600 individuals attended the library, engaging in meaningful literary discussions and activities. Feedback from attendees highlighted the positive impact of the event in motivating them to incorporate reading into their daily routines.
Conclusion
The Vachan Sankalp Maharashtracha initiative at Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College proved to be a successful endeavor in promoting the love for reading.
